Homework
MACS has a homework policy that limits homework assignments to 30 minutes or less in 4th grade, including the mandatory assignment of reading for 20 minutes. This is to enhance social and emotional health in students by allowing them time for important things like family interaction and extracurricular activities after school.
4th Grade Homework Schedule:
Everyday: Read 20 minutes
Monday: Write spelling words 3x
Tuesday: Write a 3-5 sentence response to independent reading
Wednesday: Write spelling words in ABC order
Thursday: Study for spelling test Friday
Friday: No homework
My homework turn-in policy is that as long as I have all assignments by Friday, I'm happy! This means that if your students has after-school activities on certain days, they can plan to do their homework assignments on the days before or after that to make sure that all assignments are getting done and to avoid a classroom fine.
The homework schedule may change depending on snow days, days off, or other important classroom happenings. Students will have notice if there is to be any change.

If there is any pertinent unfinished work from the day, that may be assigned as homework as well.
